Fida Itani & Samir Amin

Fida Itani is a Lebanese journalist who in October last year published a series of 14 articles on the history of jihadism in Lebanon in the newspaper Al-Akhbar – which I’ve been meaning to translate but haven’t got round to yet (and I won’t have time in the next few months or so either). A shortened version of this history has now appeared in Le Monde Diplomatique of this month and is worth reading. A summary of the article is here on their website (in French).

Samir Amin is interviewed here by al-oufok (‘site du mouvement démocratique arabe’) and offers a refreshingly longterm and optimistic perspective on the capitalist-socialist struggle (also in French). Eat your heart out, Fukuyama…
